the rubber band man

the rubber band man
whose life is one prolonged & nervous breakdown
his personality held together with rubber bands
& chewing gum
with outstretched arms
as far as rubber bands will allow him to stretch
pleads with an unknown suspected entity
“where have I been all these years & where am I going?”
he meets the devil in his dreams
dreams in his waking hours
touches the real on ocassions
& forgets to remember.
